TEST DRIVE #14
The day begins as any other, you’re going about your day, living your life, when, without warning, you feel the world around you shift on its axis. You feel a great tear, welling from the depths of your soul as you are ripped from all you have known. If you’re lucky, you arrive in the wilderness of an unfamiliar world, where the language is foreign and the people are hostile. To make your escape, you must learn some language, flee, and occasionally fight, all to find your way off the floating isles you find yourself on and to the great ocean below, where rebel forces will welcome you.
If you’re unlucky, you materialize within a room full of armed guards and are quickly subdued with charged nets, stripped of your belongings, fitted with strange devices that suppress your powers and pressed into servitude. Your days are unimaginable pain and toil.
Fortunately, even in this world, there is still hope. For the denizens of this world have not given up. And it is for that dream of salvation that the Crimson Corsairs raise their flags and sail - for liberation. Perhaps you are one who has lived their entire life under the oppressive yoke of the Empire. Perhaps you have seen first hand your family and friends cut down by nobles hunting men for sport, or perhaps you have run afoul with the church and barely escaped with your life. No matter your origin, the Corsairs sail for you, for your freedom, for your life. And today, a taste of freedom will be won for all.

ARRIVAL/LIBERATION
The Corsair strikes on the Bavrecht laboratories yielded a number of things, including the liberation of many extremely fortunate prisoners. The laboratories, and their horrific inhumane experiments, many of those who lived were simply those who the researchers hadn’t had the opportunity to experiment on, as well as the meager support staff who had maintained the facility.
No matter their role, all liberated prisoners are immediately taken into the Vault where they are given a thorough medical examination. As the expectation is that these prisoners will bear far greater psychological scars, as many Corsairs with any kind of counseling experience as are available have been called in to help try to ease the trauma. Although the laboratory has been captured and its wardens slain, the Corsairs know those scars will not so easily fade.

FESTIVAL OF HARVESTS
As is typical, the Corsairs have their own harvest festival of sorts, despite having a far more limited range of farmland with which to harvest. This year, with so many more mouths to feed, the Corsairs have concerns over their food supplies, but even still they are determined to ensure that every Corsair or civilian under their banner is able to at least enjoy the seasonal shift.
This year, the festival is being held in Asphodel, a way to help welcome the new civilian population and try to set them at ease for the coming winter months. Corsairs from all three major cities have gathered, setting up stalls in the subterranean square for food, drink, and revelry. In times like this, it is important to ensure the Corsairs and their charges can stick together.

SEA MONSTERS AGAIN
With the precarious food situation, the annual sea monster hunt has taken on an even greater importance. With any and all able-bodied Corsairs set to fishing, those with combat capabilities have been dispatched to hunt and cull the sea monsters. The hunt is farther ranging than it usually is, with the Corsairs not wishing to disrupt the local ecosystem where Flotsam would often sail, but with the Imperial fleets hovering around Bavrecht it has also become more precarious as they will need to evade imperials as well as bring in food.

WINTER SOLSTICE
Winter Festivities are fast approaching, and the Corsairs are hoping to introduce the new civilians to their own tradition. While the Empire celebrates the Day of Divine Blessing, the birth of a prophet who delivered the favor of the Divine to the Imperial Family, the solstice celebrations of the Corsairs are quite different. While they do still engage in gift exchange, traditional recipes differ significantly (likely in part due to the abundance of fish and little else in the Eternal Ocean) and the ceremonies are considerably more pagan, for lack of a better term. In a continued effort to make the people of Asphodel comfortable, the Corsairs are centering their festivities there, with shops, as much food as can be spared, and good cheer for all.
