Marcille had tried the bland, hard, crumbly bread yesterday, and had not been impressed with it. She had assumed living at sea would be hard, but clearly she had underestimated just how hard.
“Wasn’t the hardtack going moldy already? There’s GOT to be something real to eat! Don’t we have any chicken? Or some kind of salad, maybe! I know it’s important to eat vegetables at sea or you’ll get scurvy!”
Her voice took on a whining edge as she complained, but her stomach and nose were waging their own campaign of rebellion against her brain just as she was rebelling against the Empire.
Despite the fact that it was essentially just a giant bug from the sea, she had to admit that the lobster actually did smell REALLY good. Could it actually be worth eating, maybe?
