Whatever purgatory or other world this is he ended up in, Nanami had expected that it was meant to separate him from the people he was once close to. It wasn't realistic to assume he'd ever magically find his way back or reunite with familiar faces like he was living out some romantic drama, and he'd pretty much settled into his new existence with a vaguely indifferent tolerance.

But fate apparently has a bad sense of humor. Nanami can't completely mask his surprise when he notices Geto approach him, although he does manage to keep most of the shock out of his expression as he takes in the Curse User's appearance over his book. He might even be able to pass off the pause before he's able to gather an answer together as his usual tired apathy. Maybe the other man won't notice. ]
