The newcomers need good, nutritious food: but they also need to reacclimate from inadequate and underseasoned meals of hardtack, bacon rinds, and no fruit or vegetables to speak of.
Senshi is ladling hot rice porridge with fish out as that way to ease newcomers back into eating properly. It’s warm and filling and while deliberately bland has some actual salt and citrus and flavor, as well as half an egg and a scattering of chives in each bowl. He serves them with savory sticks of fried dough.
When he can, he tries to serve personally, and to reassure folks:
“Eat up, and don’t be shy if you need seconds.”
He’ll be damned if he can’t provide for the new folks.
2: Danger At Sea: Grilled Fillet of Sea Serpent
Senshi rushes to the defense of the team, with shield and axe in hand, and let no one say he fights without courage or skill. He knows where to hit the beast should the chance present itself, and protects his allies when biding time.
It’s after the beast is felled that Senshi gets weird.
Out comes his chef’s knife. After hacking through the thick scales of the slain serpent, he’s able to peel off some hide and reveal deep red fish-flesh beneath. He takes in the sight and considers.
Get me some salt from the hold. Empty barrels or other wood we can use for smoking, as well. Can’t waste this windfall!
He sounds delighted at the prospect of cooking this critter.
